Humboldt High’s Lady Cubs went 1-1 in Tuesday’s volleyball action. They beat Leon-Bluestem 25-21, 26-24 then lost 25-10, 25-9 to Eureka.
“The Bluestem win was a good one for us. We were down by quite a bit in the second set and came back to get the victory,” said Stephanie Splechter, Humboldt head coach. “Our passing was much better.”
Sheri Middleton had six kills and five blocks for the Lady Cubs and Kindahl Young had four kills and one block. Young also had nine service points, including two ace serves.
Anna Setter served up nine points and had 11 set assists. Taylyn Wells had five digs and served up three aces.
Splechter said Eureka was a talented team and Humboldt played hard but couldn’t come up with the win.
Hannah McCall had two kills and three digs and Middleton made two blocks and downed two kills. Kayle Riebel had two blocks. Young came up with three digs and Morgan Morris had three set assists.
Uniontown High’s Eagles picked up two Three Rivers League wins on the road Tuesday at St. Paul.
Abby Dixon served 14 points — 11 straight — in Uniontown’s 25-4, 25-11 win over Northeast-Arma. Hayden Rathbun had five kills and Ashley Nietfeld had three kills. Tayler Shook was credited with 18 assists.
Uniontown beat St. Paul 25-13, 25-19 and Shook had 12 assists. Paige Stainbrook served up seven points.
Nietfeld had six kills, Rathbun had four kills and Hope Jurgensen had three kills.
The Eagle JV won 25-8, 25-7 over Northeast led by Britney Stokes with 11 service points and three kills. It won 20-25, 25-11, 15-11 over St. Paul. Tyeesha Perry served for 13 points and Emily Shinn had six kills.
Southern Coffey County dropped two Lyon County League matches Tuesday. Madison beat the Lady Titans 12-25, 25-18, 25-11 and Lebo defeated them 25-21, 25-15.
Sarah Webb downed 14 kills and had three blocks at the net on the night. Katelyn Rogers had 15 set assists.
The SCCH junior varsity defeated Lebo and lost to Madison.
The Register did not receive reports from Marmaton Valley or Crest on Tuesday night’s play.
ON SATURDAY, Southern Coffey County went 1-2 in the Hartford High Invitational. The Lady Titans lost 25-10, 25-21 to Mission Valley, beat Lyndon 25-16, 26-16 and lost to Lebo 25-8, 25-17.
Katelyn Rogers led a good day of serving — 91 percent — by the Lady Titans with seven ace serves. She also had 22 set assists for the day. Ashton Isch delivered 18 kills and Ashley Johnson had 14 kills. Jenna Witteman made nine digs.
The SCCH junior varsity was 2-1, defeating Lyndon and Lebo and losing to Mission Valley.
ON THURSDAY, Crest was at Bronaugh, Mo., along with Pleasanton. The Lady Lancers lost to Pleasanton 25-20, 27-25 but picked up their first win of the season, a 25-12, 12-25, 15-12 victory over their host.
Tessa Louk had eight kills and two ace serves. Katrina Strickler and Paige Tush each had five ace serves for the night. Strickler had 17 set assists. Erica Holman had five digs and two ace serves.
